Does anyone watch clouds anymore?
Do you remember watching clouds? When you were young and everything seemed possible? When you were open to every thought, every idea? When you would lay back on a carpet of green grass, let your mind wander and watch fluffy white clouds float by on breezes high above you? One cloud might look like a dragon chasing a butterfly, the next might look like a clown, and the next like your Aunt Trudy. One cloud metamorphosing effortlessly from a flower to a bird, to a seal, to a sailboat right before your eyes in the space of a few minutes. It's like watching a great magic show in the sky.
I still enjoy watching clouds whenever I'm outdoors or near a window. Just let my mind go wandering without restraint and see what wonders the clouds reveal to me. No matter what characters or forms emerge they never fail to make me smile.
And when I let go and give myself over to the openness I had when I was a child, I instantly feel the tension flow out of my body and I relax. I am refreshed. I feel like a kid again with all the possibilities of life before me. No limits. No boundaries. Like I could fly.....like I could simply spread my arms like wings and fly.
In these days of uncertainty and chaos in the world, it's nice to know there is still something that can make you feel this good. I'll be doing as much cloud watching as I can. You're welcome to join me any time.
