Okay, just kidding about the music. But, and this is a big one... I finally laid the brush to the paper and began the watercolor that I was supposed to start ages ago. That first step is a bitch. Like almost anything else, it's the getting started that's the hardest part, whether its writing, drawing, painting, or beginning, well, any project. Once you have put the pen, pencil, brush or whatever to paper, you're committed. And you might just screw up.
So, as I have done with so many things this year, I finally just took a deep breath and dove in. And, as with the other things, I'm glad I did... even if I do screw up.
The color looks a little better/different in person, but, this is just just the first and second wash of color. I'm not sure how many I will need to do to get it the way I want, since this is my first one. But with watercolor, my understanding is that you have to build the color, layer on layer, to bring depth and variation to the painting. I'll wait for this to dry and then add another layer this afternoon. We'll see what happens.
Thanks for all the encouragement, especially from Meredith.
